Air Caraibes emergency landing at Saint Maarten due to engine failure

Air Caraibes urgently lands in Juliana after taking off Juliana Airport's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Mingo has confirmed that an Air Caraibes company plane (flight TX 527) had an engine problem after taking off this Tuesday evening and was forced to come back to land. According to the elements reported, one of the devices caught fire. A passenger seated in the front of the aircraft confirmed to us that they heard two explosions.Brian Mingo said there were no injuries, fewer than 50 passengers were on board.The plane took off around 7 p.m. to reach Paris Orly.

This is what it looked like....the very last 747 landing at the short runway of SXM. It was amazing to be part of this farewell. I heared that there were almost 4800 people to say goodbye to the queen! She was the icon of the airport...she was :( To colour the beach, klm handed out some t-shirts and hoodies, thanks KLM! From now on they have a direct flight AMS-SXM with an Airbus A330.

Skyway Short 360 crashed just after take off from Princess Juliana Airport - SXM

On October 29th at 6:39 pm, a Short SH360 aircraft, registered N380MQ, operated by SkyWay Airways departed from Princess Juliana International Airport en route to San Juan. Shortly after RWY 28 take-off, during the initial climb and at 200 feet of altitude, Juliana Tower lost contact with the aircraft. The aircraft crashed into the waters just off the coast of Sint Maarten. Both two pilots died.

Delta aids Carnival Dream

So the sad story is that the Carnival Dream cruise liner broke down here in St. Maarten, so the company decided to fly the passengers out after 2 days here on the island. The good news is that we got a lot of Delta heavies. This is the first time I have ever seen a Boeing 767-400 and so happy to have seen it home on my little island!

A very rare visit by this hurricane hunter to Sint Maarten. The aircraft is making a tour of the Caribbean in order to inform the public in general of the work that these crews do during the hurricane season. On March 16 several schools will get a tour of the aircraft. Seen here right next to the Sint Maarten Met Office.
