the red lines?" JPC van Heijst on Sep 16th, 2010: "Thank you! We can vary the speed, but this is indeed the normal cruise speed for the 737. Speed is generaly pretty stable during cruise so the red band is no problem. And of course; too slow and we'd have another problem as well ;)" Soroush on May 15th, 2011: "By considering the normal speed for landing being around 150 knots , isnt 250 knots too slow for being at 38000 feet ?!" JPC van Heijst on Jun 22nd, 2011: "The '250' kts is an indicated airspeed, relative airspeed of air-mass over the wing considering the low density of the air at that altitude. The true airspeed (speed of aircraft relative to still air) is around 450kts (870km h) and thus much faster then the indicated airspeed." |
