Author's remark: Every aircraft, to some degree, creates an air disturbance as it flies through the air. On landing with flaps configured that disturbance, referred to as wake turbulence, is greatest. Many times you can hear or feel this if you are standing close to the end of the runway and an aircraft passes overhead. Of all the planes I have experienced this with, the Boeing 757-300 is by far the worst. It lasted nearly a minute and was nothing short of violent. This has to do with the wing loading that was designed into the aircraft. In the ATC world they treat the B757-200 and -300 as "Heavies" for wake separation.
